We turn insight into form.
Makoff Productions is a London-based independent production company developing original film and TV IP.
We exist to make work that entertains, provokes, and leaves people slightly more awake than they arrived.
founder
Leena Makoff is an actor, artist, and filmmaker whose work spans performance, writing, directing, and creative development across theatre, film, and television.
As an actor, she has worked on productions for Amazon Prime, BBC Wales and TVP1, appeared in fringe theatres across London, and built a voice-over practice that includes commercial campaigns for brands like Meta, Spotify, Charlotte Tilbury, Triumph and FedEx, on top of some video gaming adventures. Her anti-regime play, Polskie Halloween, written in Polish, was performed in the OFF section of the #41 PPA: Stage Song Review in Wroclaw, Poland.

Apart from her artistic endeavours, Leena studied Film History and Theory at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, has managed teams in hospitality, taught yoga, and moved through enough of life's terrain to understand how people actually work under pressure, what they need to do their best, and where systems fail them. That breadth is not incidental to the company. It is foundational to it.
She is the person in the room who asks the question that cracks the project open, who sees what a story wants to become before it knows itself, who brings people into creative alignment and keeps the work tethered to its own heart. Conceptually, she is a force. She can channel an idea, boil it down to its essence and ignite the movement from imagination into form. That ability to hold the vision and pull others into it is what the company is built on.
Makoff Productions exists to create the conditions for work she believes in: freely developed, deeply collaborative, commercially alive and uncompromising at its core.
She is based in London.

what we do and why
A Makoff project carries self-awareness, humour, emotional precision and a sense that even when the material goes dark, the work itself is moving towards something true.
We treat audiences as intelligent, emotional, and capable of more than they are usually given credit for. We are drawn to stories that sit at the intersection of the personal and the systemic, that find the absurdity inside the tragedy and the tenderness inside the satire. Work that is commercially alive, emotionally honest, and slightly dangerous in its honesty.
Stories with enough self-awareness to be funny and enough heart to be real.
how we work
We are matriarchal indie entertainment. That phrase is a description of method, not just identity.

Matriarchal here means power that knows it is responsible for what it touches. Clear leadership without domination. Ambition without extraction. Creative environments where people are valued, challenged and protected, and where the human being in the room is never the sacrifice.

We work with people who take the craft seriously and take themselves lightly. We move with structure, honesty and the occasional burst of completely necessary chaos.
